Nick Ross: Good evening, and welcome to Crimewatch. Our first case this evening is a particularly brazen robbery during the middle of the day in East Sussex.
Police need your help to catch this gang of criminals, who were particularly active over the Christmas period.

Nick Ross: We have a racially diverse team of detectives here in the studio, ready to take your calls. And if you don’t want to talk to the police, there are representatives from the Sussex FA on hand to accept any information about this hideous attack.

Sue Cook: Our reconstruction starts on New Year’s Day in Lewes, where a group of tourists from Bognor Regis were on a day trip. Indeed, the leader of the touring group seemed particularly excited about the trip to East Sussex. Warning: the following image is extremely graphic.

Sue Cook: Detective Inspector Dave White from Sussex Police joins us in the studio. Can you tell us what happened in Lewes that afternoon, Detective Inspector?

DI White: In my 25 years in The Force, I’ve never seen anything like it, Sue.
The visitors from Bognor were having a lovely day in Lewes, despite the dismal weather. They were strolling around The Dripping Pan, repeatedly hitting the bar and generally enjoying themselves, without causing any real damage.
However, at about approximately 4:30pm, Sue, their fun was brought to an abrupt halt by a gang of locals, known as The Rooks. In particular, we wish to speak to a gang member known as Jake ‘The Snake’ Elliott.
He’s not The Rooks’ regular hitman, but eye witnesses report he headed the attack on this occasion.
Sue Cook: And I believe you’ve issued a photofit of the suspect, which viewers can see on the screen now.

DI White: That’s correct. We’re looking for an IC3 male, approximately 6ft 2in in height. We believe he may be wearing a wig, Sue.
Sue Cook: And I believe there’s particularly good CCTV of the incident, Inspector?
DI White: Indeed there is, Sue. Not to mention excellent still images from a local photographer.
Sue Cook: If you recognise anyone in these images, please do give us a call. Remember, this robbery took place in the middle of the day in a very busy stadium, with dozens of young children watching. Someone must have seen something that will help police put this gang behind bars.

Nick Ross: And please remember, Bognor fans, this type of serious crime is very rare. So, please, don’t have nightmares. Do sleep well. Goodnight.

Lewes: Harvey, Tamplin, Elliott, Salmon, Oguntayo, Penney, Dreher, Whelpdale, Moore, Lumbombo-Kalala, Wood
Subs: Vint, Ogunwamide, Murtagh, Olukoga, Pritchard
Supporters Club man of the match: Honorable mentions for Nathan Harvey and KLK, but it would be an absolute photofit-up not to give it to Jake Elliott.
