It says everything about Boyesy that it’s infinitely easier to find one of his photos than it is to find one of him.
The self-effacing club photographer shuns the spotlight, but craves the floodlights – an ever-present fixture with his zoom lens on the touchline, no matter how foul the weather.
He’s not a professional photographer, but only in the sense that he doesn’t do it for a living. The consistent quality of his photographs are astonishingly good. How can you tell? Because players splash his photos all over their social media after every game, not to mention national media whenever they want to cover the club.
Boyesy was the embodiment of equality long before Equality FC, taking photos of the women’s team every bit as often as he was the men. And don’t underestimate what a commitment that is – it’s not only the hours spent in the cold and wet while the matches are taking place, but the hours spent collating and editing the photos long after the final whistle has blown.
We’ve picked a handful of his photos to share here, but there are tens of thousands more in his Flickr archive.
