We thought of writing unique profiles of Barbara and David Arnold, but after 50 years of marriage – their Golden anniversary was celebrated in The Rook Inn – they are inseparable.
The couple are as devoted to the club as they are to each other. David is a former chair of the Supporters Club, a role he filled for many a year. He’s done all sorts over the years, including manning the bar and providing food for the under-18s matches. He’s the unofficial club historian too, writing many articles for the programme and the Sussex Express over years, tracing back through the club’s 140-year history.
Barbara is the effervescent bundle of energy that does laps of the ground selling raffle tickets, even when she’s bandaged and bruised after a mishap. The Arnolds not only sell the raffle tickets, they provide the prizes too. And David always take charge of the Supporters Club annual draw that takes place over Christmas/New Year.

They are unstintingly generous, always the first to offer a donation for a fundraiser. And that financial generosity is more than matched by generosity of spirit – they are two of the warmest, most welcoming people you could ever hope to meet.
They are part of the fabric of the club and life members in every sense.
