The new Supporters Club committee for 2024 was confirmed at our annual general meeting held on Tuesday evening.
Firstly, we want to thank all those who attended on the evening and those who voted in the election for the Treasurer position.
The five other candidates who stood for election were subject to confirmatory votes on the evening, and all six roles on the committee have now been filled. They are:
Chair – Barry Collins
Vice-Chair – Barry Haffenden
Secretary – Mike Wallis
Treasurer – Alan Sayers
Membership Secretary – Jeff Sheldon
Communications Manager – Barry Collins
Newly appointed Chair, Barry Collins, said: “It’s a horrible cliché, but it’s a genuine honour to be confirmed as chair of the Supporters Club. It’s an incredibly tough act to follow Dave Evans, who led us so brilliantly even through his illness, but all I can promise to do is give the role my maximum effort.”
Barry also paid tribute to Terry Parris and Richard Irving, who have stepped down from the Supporters Club committee.
“Terry has done more for this club than anyone I know. Player, manager, director, chairman, vice-chair of the Supporters Club and probably another dozen things that I’ve missed off the list. His family are synonymous with Lewes FC and he cares deeply for the club. I know I’ll still be able to lean on him for advice whenever I need it.”
“Richard’s passion for community ownership could barely be greater, not least given his day job at the Football Supporters’ Association. He’s worked enormously hard for the Supporters Club over the past couple of years and helped ensure we’ve done everything by the book as Secretary.”
“On behalf of the Supporters Club, huge thanks to both Terry and Richard for their contributions.”
