Norman Ashdown RIP

The Lewes FC Supporters Club was saddened to hear of the passing of Norman Ashdown, who died in July, only five days after his 99th birthday.

Norman was a lifelong supporter of the Rooks, a committee member and a very fine fundraiser for Lewes FC over many years.

It is fair to say that he was a Lewes FC legend.  In the 1960s, he organised music gigs to make money for the team’s running costs and for the club’s first floodlights.  He was the man who organised groups such as Pink Floyd, the Move, Butterfield Blues Band, Alan Price Set and the Swinging Blue Jeans and many more to play to full houses at Lewes Town Hall.

He was extremely well liked by Lewes FC committee members, players and supporters alike.

He will be sadly missed by the Rooks and many will have fond memories of the brilliant character Norman.

A minute’s silence was held for Norman ahead of yesterday’s match with Hashtag Utd.
